Yippee! I qualified 9 more model horses to go along with my 7 from two years ago, for the national championships. And...I've waited 9 years for nationals to be practically in my back yard so I could attend. It's going to be a memorable weekend with lots of model horse eye candy to behold!

P.S. I've decided to enter 14 of my 16 qualified models in the national championships.

Entered in a Model Horse Show This Weekend

This is one of my collection setups with the theme "Dig Those Groovy Colors". I also enter models in individual classes for breed and collectibility. It's my first show in 2 years. Hopefully, I will qualify more models at this show for the 2009 North American Model Horse National Championships, being held in Portland, OR in late June.

Breyer Model Horses Sighting...

at the new Centerville Western Store in Centralia, WA next to the outlet mall. We stopped by there Tuesday on the way home from the Oregon coast. Several old and new Breyer models, along with various brands of toy horses, and other western-themed items were on the shelves decorating the top of the walls in this huge place. The best part of going here was being successful in finding a western shirt that I liked. They're hard to come by in the Seattle area where I live.

Exciting Hobby News!

The 2009 North American Model Horse National Championships will be held in Portland, OR in June. I will finally be able to compete in person at this! I've been waiting since 1999, when I started showing model horses, to compete at a Nationals that would be held within a day's driving distance. Back in 2002, a friend proxy showed a custom model of mine at Nationals in Pamona, CA. That model won a large Top Ten rosette ribbon. So far, I have 9 models qualified for the 2009 Nationals, but I'd like to get a few more qualified. I'll need to try to show some before next May, to meet the deadline. I haven't shown at all this year, so far.

My Winning Model Arabian Costume

Here's a photo of the native Arabian costume I made for one of my model horses. It has hand-tied tassels, braided ropes, and a sculpted saddle covered in suede. It won a Championship ribbon and a Reserve Grand Champion ribbon at a model horse show in 2005.
